Penny Lancaster has made a candid revelation about her role as the family peacemaker when she first entered Sir Rod Stewart’s life.
During Friday’s episode of Loose Women, Lancaster opened up about the challenges she faced when joining the rock star’s blended family.
The model and TV personality, who married Stewart in 2007, shared her experiences with fellow panellists Kaye Adams, Linda Robson and Jane Moore.
The celeb couple share two children together, Alastair and Aiden, while Stewart has eight children in total from previous relationships.
After sharing her thoughts on her husband’s past relationship with President Trump, Lancaster was asked if there was a peacemaker in her family where she immediately identified herself in that role.

“I would probably point the fingers at myself,” Lancaster admitted, explaining that meeting Rod meant embracing his entire family.
She described how she carefully “tiptoed in” to the relationship, reassuring everyone that “it’ll be alright in the end.”
Adams acknowledged the likely scepticism from Stewart’s children, noting they “probably thought you were not going to be around forever.”
Lancaster agreed: “Exactly, they thought ‘this is the next girlfriend, what does she want’ so it was understandable.”
She explained how she approached the situation with empathy rather than confrontation.
“I took the stance of being empathetic and trying to look at life from different perspectives and put myself in their shoes,” she revealed.

Lancaster’s approach focused on gradually earning their trust rather than forcing immediate acceptance which eventually paid dividends.
“Just slowly, slowly they got to recognise the truth and that I was the good guy,” she shared on the programme.
“Now 10 years later they know who I am and we have formed a family bond,” Lancaster explained.
She proudly revealed: “They do all come to me because of my honesty and they know they’ll get the truth.”
During the same show, Lancaster also explained how she had offered supportive advice to Rod’s daughters who have become mothers.
“I’ve always said to Rod’s girls that have had babies now, don’t feel bad if you feel guilty because it is a very normal feeling for a lot of mothers,” she shared.

“All the pressures of what you should and shouldn’t do, do you give them enough attention, are you strict enough and the list just goes on and on,” she explained.
The TV personality also revealed her own struggles with maternal doubt.
“For me I always doubt myself whether it’s enough and I have to remind myself that ‘you are enough and you have done the right thing’,” Lancaster confessed.
She admitted: “I sort of battle with it sometimes and I know there isn’t a perfect out.”
