Abstaining from food groups is a common weight loss strategy, but simple food swaps make weight loss easier.

Exchanging foods for healthier alternatives helps cut down on sugar, salt and fat in the diet, ultimately making it easier to achieve goals.

“Even just one or two everyday swaps can make a difference and go a long way to making each day healthier, but the more you make, the better!” says the NHS.

Although cheese is often vilified by weight loss experts, it can speed up results on the scale. Not all types of cheese are created equally, however.

Nikki continues to eat Laughing Cow cheese to maintain her weight

A slimmer named Nikki recently took to social media to share a “must-have” cheese product that helped her lose more than 70lb (around 5st).

“Laughing cow is a healthy food swap that I made early in my weight loss journey,” she said on her TikTok channel @Nikkigetsfit.

“I started using these right away, and it just became such a convenient cheese option.

“My favourite thing to do with Laughing Cow is to put them on wraps that I air fry. I like them with hummus, it just adds a lot of flavour.

“My favourite ones to use are just the creamy light laughing cow. The light ones just go well with a bunch of recipes.

“I use them to make pasta sauces, it’s just a good cream cheese replacement and a lower calorie option.”

“It’s just become a healthy snack option that I use all the time, I also use it for sandwiches and different things like that.”

Experts like Andrea Marcellus have also discussed the benefits of cheese for weight loss on TikTok in recent months.

In a recent clip, the nutritionist explained that dairy foods tend to be high in protein, making them a “fantastic addition” to a person’s rotation of whole foods.

One way protein enhances weight loss is by promoting satiety, meaning it helps the body stay fuller for longer.

Experts at Cleveland Clinic note: “Your body burns more calories digesting protein than carbohydrates, so protein has a higher TEF (thermic effect of food).

“Just by eating protein, you’re already burning more calories. That’s good news if you’re trying to burn an extra 500 calories each day in order to lose weight.”

Many studies have provided evidence that low-fat cheese supports weight loss when consumed in moderation.

However, it’s important to avoid ultra-processed cheese and those with high sodium levels, as these are not conducive to weight loss.
