New cakes have been spotted at Tesco and Britons can’t wait to try them – although some are a little taken aback by their costs.

An Over The Rainbow Cake, Tesco Finest Chocolate and Black Forest Fruits Bar Cake, Angus The Highland Cow Cake, Tesco Finest Tiramisu Cake, Tesco Finest Carrot Loaf Cake and Harry The Hedgehog Cake are all up for grabs.

Social media posts by the food blog Newfoodsuk have garnered lots of attention.

Tesco fans flocked to the comments section to tag fellow cake lovers.

Referring to the sweet Harry The Hedgehog Cake, one Tesco shopper told their loved one: “You need that cake for your birthday!” Another rejoiced: “Omg, hedgehog!”

A third tagged a fellow cake enthusiast, excitedly stating: “We should try them all!”

Another social media gave a special shout-out to two specific treats. They said: “Ooh, Tiramisu Cake sounds good and the Chocolate & Blackberry Bar Cake.”

Another described the Angus The Highland Cow as “cute!”. They added that the Chocolate & Blackberry Bar Cake “caught their eye”. One said: “That rainbow cake is gorgeous.”

However, the tasty flavours and cute animal faces weren’t the only features that captured the attention of Tesco shoppers.

Social media users could not believe how much the supermarket’s new cakes would set them back.

The Tesco Finest Carrot Loaf Cake will set shoppers back £2.75, the Tesco Over the Rainbow Cake, £12, and the Tesco Angus The Highland Cow Cake and Tesco Harry the Hedgehog Cake, £14.

Shoppers can get their hands on the Tesco Finest Tiramisu Cake and Tesco Finest Chocolate and Black Forest Fruits Bar Cake for £17.

Britons were taken aback by the price of the goodies. One said: “Must be a gigantic cake gigantic price.”

Tesco Finest Chocolate and Black Forest Fruits Bar Cake has 20 servings, while Tesco Finest Tiramisu Cake serves 16.

Another told their loved one: “When you get paid we can go.” A third disgruntled shopper said: “Omg Tesco…where are you getting £17 from? At the end of the day, it is a slab of cake. I get that you enjoy your ‘Finest’ range but is it really?”
