Aston Martin have paid a special tribute to Eddie Jordan at the Chinese Grand Prix this weekend.
It comes after the Formula One legend’s shocking death on Thursday, aged 76, following a battle with cancer.
The British F1 giants, who were formerly owned by Jordan before transitions into Spyker, Force India, Racing Point and finally Aston Martin, announced the news on Friday ahead of the Sprint qualifying, accompanying the X (formerly Twitter) post with several pictures of their cars’ new look.
Jordan’s name will be featured on the rear of both Aston Martin cars throughout the weekend, and a unique Shamrock logo design will be used to honour his Irish roots.
After the news broke, Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll was among the numerous names paying emotional tributes to the Formula One icon.
‘Eddie Jordan was a true racer, a great leader, and one of the biggest characters in our sport,’ he said.

‘He was a friend who I have known for more than thirty years and I will miss him greatly.
‘My thoughts, and those of everybody at Aston Martin, are with his family and friends.’
After his time as an F1 team owner between 1991 and 2005, Jordan continued to work in the sport as a BBC and Channel 4 broadcaster.
Having withdrawn from the public eye, his last significant involvement in F1 was thought to have been helping facilitate the deal for Adrian Newey to join Aston Martin as the design guru’s manager.
However, Jordan is renowned for giving Michael Schumacher his F1 debut in 1991, while Damon Hill, the 1996 world champion, ended his career with his team.
Andy Cowell, the team’s chief executive and principal, added: ‘Eddie Jordan was one of the all-time motorsport greats.
‘He was a one-off, a wonderful human being, and a charismatic leader who founded this team and took it to F1 in 1991.’
Jordan leaves his wife Marie and his children: Zoe, Miki, Zak and Kyle. He has many devoted fans and will be sorely missed in the world of motorsport and beyond.

Jordan’s last public sighting was alongside Ralf Schumacher back in December
He announced a heartbreaking update about his condition just last month on talkSPORT.
‘Sorry guys, just a small thing, thank you,’ said Jordan. ‘I’ve just come out of getting chemotherapy and I’m not 100 per cent together here guys.
‘I’m just not myself at this moment in time. I’m a little all over the place, so please forgive me.’
Jordan oversaw Adrian Newey’s transfer from Red Bull to Aston Martin earlier this year.
He was awarded an honorary OBE in 2012 for services to charity and motorsport and holds honorary doctorates from the University of Ulster and Dublin Institute of Technology.
