Looking to others for inspiration is a great way to get started on your weight loss journey.

One woman, who shed more than 3st 7lb, explained the diet plan that helped her achieve such impressive results.

Michelle McPherson, 60, from Essex, said a combination of perimenopause and other health conditions saw her weight creep up. She said: “When I went through menopause, I literally lost my waist, and I hated it.

“I asked my GP if she thought I’d ever get my waist back, and to my horror she said ‘no’! Thankfully, she was wrong, I did get my waist back – thanks to The Fast 800.”

Gaining weight is natural around menopause, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be prevented.

Michelle said: “During menopause, not only did I experience weight gain, but I also experienced a number of health issues that made me pretty poorly. Due to the weight gain, I couldn’t even bend over to do up my shoes as my stomach was so big.

“Over the years, I felt like I’d tried everything for weight loss, however, nothing worked for me long-term. If I did experience a little bit of weight loss short-term, it didn’t last and as soon as I stopped the diet, the weight piled back on.”

After reaching a dress size 18/20, the dieter decided “enough was enough” and signed up for the Fast 800 diet plan – a form of intermittent fasting developed by the late Dr Michael Mosley.

Michelle added: “I decided to sign up for the free seven-day trial. I was quite excited and started on my journey and it immediately became obvious to me that the programme was the perfect fit for me.”

The plan she used also featured daily workouts that she did from home, doing everything from resistance training and HIIT to Pilates.

She said: “After around two weeks, on a Saturday morning, I got up and got ready, went shopping, came home, did the housework, did the washing, did the ironing, did a couple of other chores and I sat down at the end of the day and I thought – ‘Good God woman, you’re superwoman! Where did all that energy come from?’.

“Then the penny dropped. I realised that this newfound energy was down to my new diet and the weight loss.”

Michelle dropped more than nine pounds in the first week and 3st 7lb in total, but she experienced more health benefits than just weight loss.

She saw her sleep improve – “I rarely wake up during the night!” – and generally felt “emotionally fantastic”. Her hair, skin and nails also improved with her new diet.

The slimmer added: “I’m happy with how I look and I know I currently look healthy. I recently went to see my GP, who is no longer concerned about my HbA1c levels and is impressed by my weight loss.”

She explained that by changing her diet and lifestyle, she’s stabilised her blood sugar levels and is happy with her progress.

The 60-year-old added: “For me, the idea of going into the next chapter of my life stronger, healthier and fitter is much more important than how I look.

“I feel confident that I’ve given myself the best chance of a healthy old age. I’ll be able to tie my own laces and I’m much more mobile. Hopefully, I’ll be able to be much more independent than I would have been pre-weight loss.”
