Daily skin care practices have a great impact on how smooth and youthful your face appears.

Despite this, many men and women have not yet honed their perfect skin care routines.

Using three products is all you need, according to Dr Nisa Aslam, skin specialist from leading Japanese skin care range Hada Labo Tokyo.

She told GB News: “Hada Labo Tokyo research shows nearly half of women don’t follow a daily skin care routine, despite almost half admitting they had noticed their skin changing as they age.

Cleanser is often forgotten but important for your skin

“Some 40 per cent have said it appeared drier [with age] and 68 per cent have noticed more wrinkles and lines.

“The three essential stages of a routine – cleanse, hydrate and moisturise – play an essential role in supporting skin to keep it hydrated, plump, youthful and smooth. Try Hada Labo Tokyo Premium Ultra Firming Booster Day Cream in Milk, which is designed for very dry and dehydrated skin and contains five different types of hyaluronic acid.”

Picking skin care products with the right ingredients is important, and the doctor recommended looking out for one key ingredient in particular.

While moisturiser is one of the most common skin care products people will use, cleanser is often forgotten. In fact, Dr Aslam explained only 18 per cent of people will use a cleanser when they feel they need it.

The doctor explained it should be a vital step in everyone’s skin care routine to help get rid of dirt and promote a glowing complexion.

The professional added: “Cleansing cleans the skin, so it’s important to never skip this.

“It’s an effective way of removing dirt, grime and makeup that has built up over the day, so you provide a clear base for the next layer of products to make an impact.”

Skin care is crucial year-round but the steps you need to take can be different in the winter, according to Dr Aslam.

She said: “New research found that a staggering 75 per cent of women notice skin changes throughout the seasons, with two-thirds reporting their skin feels drier, duller and more sensitive in winter.

“What’s more, nearly a quarter go as far as to say with winter skin, they feel they look unhealthy, and 18 per cent say the harsher months cause their skin to break out.

“It’s no surprise our skin feels a little lacklustre in winter – it’s a natural response to the colder weather temperatures and indoor living with central heating. But there are steps we can take to ensure our skin is glowing even through the cold winter months.”
