Sir Tom Jones fans have long been predicting the Welsh singing icon could be headed for retirement, but the Sexbomb hit-maker has today made clear he has no plans to slow down.

Jones’ five-decade strong career has kept him a household name, with the legendary performer continuing to tour well into his 80s – and on Tuesday the singer announced he’d be headlining a major concert this summer.

The Voice coach Jones, 84, shared a post with his 700,000 followers this week, revealing his excitement to be performing as the headline act at this year’s Bestival in Dorset.

Sharing the line up announcement from Camp Bestival, which confirmed he and Sugababes would be the main acts of the music event, Jones penned: “Thrilled to be headlining @campbestival on the 3rd August!”

Now in its 17th year, the festival, held at Lulworth Castle, will also see performances from Annie Mac, Lightning Seeds, The Zutons and more.

Just last month, Jones announced he’d be launching a major tour in America and Canada this spring, but fans’ ever-growing concerns were highlighted as a handful of them responded by instructing the She’s a Lady singer to “take it easy”.

The previous social media update from January read: “Thrilled to announce my band and I will be touring the States and Canada this Spring!

“I’m very much looking forward to be performing again for you all, see you along the road soon!”

“It’s such a worry that you’re over doing it, it must be so tiring doing those gigs….and you have to save some energy for touring here in the UK,” one person wrote in the comments,” with many others reflecting similar sentiments.

One Instagram user added: “I’m so happy for you because that is what you want. On the other hand I am worried for you because you’re not the youngest anymore. But I wish you and your team a great time in America and Canada.”

Others simply urged Jones to “take it easy,” but it seems the performer is more than happy to continue to entertain.

In October, the singer assured fans he plans to remain on the stage for as long as possible when he shared a defiant message.

Concluding his 2024 tour, he wrote on Instagram: “What a year it’s been!”

The statement continued: “Just wanted to express my gratitude to you all who came to see the show this year.

“We understand what it takes to venture out to see a concert these days, and I want you to know how much your time and effort is appreciated.

“From the stage, it has been absolutely wonderful for me, the band and crew to visit your neighbourhood and play for you each night.

“You all know how much I love to do what I do, and to share that space with you, there is nothing better.”

Turning his attention to the future, The Voice coach continued: “We close this chapter after performing 74 shows in 24 countries this year! (Not bad for a pensioner).”

The post ended with a clear message as he signed off: “We’ll see you again”.

The singer continued: “So until the next time, keep healthy and happy, and keep the joy of music in your life!”
