ITV has issued an official statement after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry fans slammed the broadcaster’s Invictus Games coverage.

Prince Harry’s Invictus Games Foundation announced that it has partnered with the British-based media company as the official UK broadcaster at the end of January.

The Foundation announced that nine daily highlight shows will be available on ITVX throughout the games.

The Duke of Sussex established the event in 2014 and remains a patron of the Games.

The international adaptive sporting event, currently underway in Canada, allows wounded, injured, and sick servicemen and women to compete.

ITV wrote on social media: “Hi there. Our coverage for the Invictus Games was limited to showing only the highlights of the event.

“Due to coordination with the production team of the games and varying local time zones, there was a delay in making the highlights available on our service.”

“Just to let you know, sadly, the rest of the episodes may also be delayed in coming to our service due to the time zones.”

Fans have taken to social media to express their fury at the broadcaster.

One wrote: “Why are you still not showing the Invictus games??? Absolutely shocking there’s no coverage of our brave men and women, you should be truly ashamed!!”

Another added: “This is ridiculous, people want to watch them, families, friends and the likes want to watch team GB and others…”
