PGA Tour star Scottie Scheffler dropped a hilarious one-liner about his arrest during an appearance on College GameDay Saturday.

The World No. 1, who was arrested by the Louisville Metro Police in May, joined Pat McAfee and co. on the ESPN program at the weekend to make his gameday picks for this week’s action-packed slate of college football games.

However, the Louisville Cardinals’ clash against the No. 6 Miami Hurricanes hit a little close to home for the Masters champion following his detainment outside the gates of Valhalla Golf Club during the PGA Championship earlier this year.

When asked who he believed would win in the matchup, the guest picker took a cheeky swipe at Louisville.

Not to bring anything personal into this with Louisville, great city, love the people… but Miami is gonna smoke them,’ Scheffler responded with a smirk.

His hilarious response sent the GameDay panel into stitches before host McAfee asked him if there was any chance he would have plumped for the Cardinals.

‘No film, nothing… just love Miami,’ Scheffler jokingly answered about the reasoning behind his choice.

Scheffler was arrested while making his way into Valhalla Golf Club for his second round at the PGA Championship, before being booked into jail on four criminal charges – including second-degree assault of a police officer.

Amid a traffic pileup outside the club – following a fatal accident earlier that morning – the two-time Masters champion was accused of ignoring police orders to pull over his vehicle and instead speeding away, which allegedly dragged Louisville Detective Bryan Gillis to the ground and left him with both minor cuts and torn pants.

All charges against him were eventually dropped, with Scheffler even considering taking legal action himself after his claim that the incident was simply one big misunderstanding was said to be ‘corroborated by the evidence’.

The two-time major winner miraculously managed to make it to the first tee in time for his second round after being released and returning to Valhalla a couple of hours later.

Despite the dramatic ordeal, Scheffler claimed his stint behind bars was actually rather underwhelming.

‘Honestly, jail was a touch boring because you’re just sitting there staring at the wall,’ he told McAfee and co.

Scheffler joined GameDay in Austin, Texas where he hopes his beloved Longhorns can beat No. 5 Georgia in a prime-time SEC clash.  ‘

After his arrest, Scheffler went on to  finish the PGA Championship in a four-way tie in eighth place.

He has since won the Memorial Tournament, Traveler’s Championship. Olympic gold and the TOUR Championship, tallying eight wins in 2024.
