Royal commentator Angela Levin has claimed that Prince Harry’s life goal was to “get rid of the English press.”

The Duke of Sussex revealed in an interview with ITV’s Tom Bradby last year that he holds the UK press responsible for everything from the death of his mother in 1997 to his current rift with the rest of his family.

The duke’s distrust of the press – suggested by interviewer Tom Bradby as being a permanent “war” – also ran through Harry’s remarks adorning the front pages the next day which included his rejection of the idea that he and his wife had accused the royal family of “racism” during their first major US interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Speaking on GBN America, Levin said: “Harry went back and said, no, we didn’t say that, it was the press.

“He blamed it all on us. What his aim, his whole life aim, was to get rid of the English press so that people would just say nice things.”

The Duke of Sussex is among a group of high-profile figures, including Sir Elton John, who have brought legal action against Associated Newspapers.

In Associated Newspapers’ written defence, which was made public on Wednesday, Andrew Caldecott KC and Adrian Beltrami KC said Harry’s case was “without foundation and is an affront to the hard-working professional journalists whose reputations and integrity, as well as that of Associated itself, are wrongly traduced.”

It was also highlighted that the Duke of Sussex has provided the media with “private information about himself”.

The legal claims are still in the preliminary stages and no findings have been made in the case.

Levin also discussed Omid Scobie, who has received yet another blow as the latest filed accounts reveal his publishing business’s capital has plummeted.

The author is known for writing about the racism row and publicly named the royals caught up in the controversy.

Levin said: “He lives very near Montecito now, apparently. And his book absolutely didn’t sell well. People were shocked, horrified, and didn’t want it.”

GBNA host Nana Akua added: “Well, also because he’s gone on and said that he’s named two members of the Royal Family that he claimed were behind the unconscious bias, that is the words they’re using now, after realising that Harry had made a fool of himself in that interview with Tom Bradby.”

The latest accounts filed for Scobie’s business MeYou report that it acquired just £359 in capital and reserves for the year ending June 30, 2023.

This is quite a downgrade from the previous year when the company held £35,399 in capital and reserves.
