Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s professional separation could stop the “endless backlash” directed at the Sussexes, according to a PR expert.
Over the course of last six months, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex embarked on mostly solo projects – Meghan with her red carpet appearances and Harry with his philanthropic causes.
However, they ended their professional separation after landing in Canada for the 2025 Invictus Games.
PR expert Edward Coram James, the CEO of Go Up, spoke exclusively to GB News about why this may have been a poor idea.

The expert is urging the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to separate their public brands.
Coram James said: “Invictus is Harry’s initiative. He’s spent years building this, and when Meghan takes a starring role, the media shifts its focus to her.
“And that can be a problem. Instead of focusing on the athletes and the veterans, we were seeing Meghan’s jeans, Meghan reading to school children, and she and Harry holding hands.
“And that’s not their fault, but it is the reality.

“The whole point of Invictus is to honour these incredible people, and yet, half the coverage became Meghan’s big return.
“That’s where it gets tricky. If they keep trying to be a joint brand, they’re stuck in the cycle of endless backlash.
“The smartest move? Subtle brand separation.
“Work separately, rebuild individually, and come back stronger.”

Meghan also recorded the majority of the Games on her phone, which was uploaded to her Instagram stories.
The Duchess’s profile, @meghan, was launched on New Year’s Day, and at the time of writing, she has 1.7 million followers.
However, Prince Harry, 40, does not have a public Instagram profile.
Meghan left the Invictus Games halfway through the competition to return to the US, where she reunited with the couple’s children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
