Princess Kate and Prince William are expected to be invited to Washington DC by Donald Trump when the US President meets Kier Starmer this week, according to reports.

Prince William, 42, met with Trump, 78, at the official reopening of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris in December last year.

The President is said to have considered Princess Kate’s health when planning to invite the royal pair to a state visit.

Trump was also described as being “wowed” by the Prince of Wales and sources close to the 47th US President said they “got on like a house on fire”.

Any official visit by the royals to attend a state visit must be arranged through the Government.

A source told the Mail: “President Trump very much enjoyed meeting Prince William in France.

“He was wowed by William and thinks he’s a great guy.

“He will officially invite both the Prince and Princess of Wales to visit Washington but understands if the Princess of Wales’ health issues prevent her from coming.”

During their meeting in December, Donald Trump praised Prince William for “doing a fantastic job”.

The two embraced each other with a warm handshake before Trump hailed the future King a “good man”.

The Prince of Wales discussed a wide range of global issues before the President shared fond memories from his state visit in 2019 when he met Queen Elizabeth.

During their 40-minute meeting, the President-elect shared memories of the late Queen and discussed a range of global issues with the Prince of Wales.

Trump has vowed to visit the UK again during his second term as President, but no visit has been confirmed by either side.
