Peter Andre has shared his thoughts on the controversies surrounding Disney’s Snow White remake, which has been plagued by criticism despite the film not having hit cinemas yet.
Singer and TV personality Andre, 52, touched on one particular move by the media conglomerate to use CGI “magical creatures” as a replacement for the traditional film’s “dwarves,” rather than real-life actors.
Andre’s take comes following Disney’s decision not to include “the seven dwarves” in the title, veering away from the classic 1937 film and leading to allegations of “wokery” from critics.
Wading into the debate, Mysterious Girl singer Andre wrote in his latest column for New magazine: “I think it’s important to leave classic films as they were.”
He continued: “Disney has been involved in a bit of controversy over its new version of Snow White for things like using CGI for the ‘magical creatures’ instead of the original seven dwarfs.
“It’s important to remember that the original stories and films were very much of their time and, yes, there are definitely things that don’t sit comfortably with today’s audiences.
“I think it’s important to leave classic films as they were. New films can be as diverse as ever, but recreating classics and putting actors out of work for CGI is not the solution.”
It comes after the film, starring Rachel Zegler as the titular character, has been the subject of significant backlash for various reasons.

The re-imagining of the classic animation has already been blasted by critics from all angles.
Zegler, 23, has previously been deemed “a waking PR disaster for Disney” following comments she has made about her role in the film.
During a 2022 interview, the actress labelled the film as “dated,” describing Prince Charming as “a guy who literally stalks [Snow White]”, going on to deem the story “weird”.
Disney also decided to scale back the Hollywood premiere of the remake, with the March 15 event seeing significantly limited media access.
Political divisions have also tainted the run-up to the film, with Zegler having come under fire for promoting “free Palestine” on social media.
On the other hand, Gal Gadot, who plays the Evil Queen, has become an outspoken supporter of Israel.
The actress is Israeli and served two years in the Israel Defense Forces.
When asked recently about the controversy associated with the film, Zegler refused to reply.

She was asked by TMZ: “What would you say to those that are kind of just overly critiquing the film at this point? You’ve worked so hard on it.”
However, the actress simply walked towards a car waiting to pick her up and didn’t response to the question.
It came amid the UK and USA’s “scaled back” premieres as bosses hoped to avoid “anti-woke” backlash.
