Labour’s government has been plunged into turmoil as Sue Gray, Sir Keir Starmer’s chief of staff, resigned from her position.
As the Prime Minister approaches his first 100 days in office, Shadow leader of the House of Commons Chris Philp claimed the government is in “chaos” in a fresh blow to Starmer.
Speaking on GB News, Philp criticised Starmer’s government, stating it has “collapsed into chaos after just 93 days”.
He argued that Starmer “can’t even run his own Number 10 Downing Street operation, let alone run the country”.

Philp highlighted several policy missteps, including “scrapping the winter fuel payment for almost every pensioner in the whole country”.
He also pointed out “huge pay rises for their trade union paymasters, including train drivers, who already earn £65,000 per year”.
The Conservative MP further criticised Starmer for “still tucking into freebies more than any other member of parliament over the last five years”.
Philp concluded that these mistakes show “Keir Starmer made a mistake by appointing Sue Gray in the first place” and that “it was an error of judgment”.
Philp further condemned Labour’s recent decisions, calling them “terrible mistakes that any competent Prime Minister would have avoided making”.
He pointed to the upcoming budget, warning of “tax rises to come”.
The MP also criticised Starmer’s acceptance of “free clothes, free glasses, free clothes for his wife, free stay in an £18million penthouse”.

“The list goes on and on,” Philp added, linking these issues to the Labour leader’s declining popularity.
“It’s no surprise that his opinion poll ratings have collapsed,” he stated.
Philp argued that the “Sue Gray debacle” exemplifies the government’s broader issues.
He emphasised that these missteps demonstrate Starmer’s inability to effectively manage both Downing Street and the country as a whole.

Concerns have been raised over the future of British territories, including the Chagos Islands, Falklands, and Gibraltar. Chris Philp called for a Commons vote on the Chagos Islands, stating he would “most certainly be voting against it”.
He criticised Starmer’s lack of clarity on the issue, saying: “Keir Starmer was asked about this last week, and he failed to give a clear answer”.
Philp urged Starmer to “get off the fence today and categorically assure the future of the Falklands and Gibraltar”.
The Conservative MP emphasised the importance of maintaining British sovereignty over these territories, citing clear referendum results in the Falklands and Gibraltar showing their desire to remain British.
He warned that ambiguity from leaders could “invite countries with an interest like Argentina to start poking around”.
