An FA Cup third-round tie is at risk of being postponed due to adverse weather conditions.
The third round of England’s oldest cup competition is always a big weekend in the sporting calendar as Premier League clubs enter the fray.
But one top flight team might not get the chance to play their match just yet.
Everton are due to host League One side Peterborough at Goodison Park tonight at 7.45pm, but there are concerns that the game may need to be called off as a result of icy conditions in the area.
A safety meeting is set to take place at 1pm ahead of a final decision on whether the match can go ahead or not.
Everton have released a statement to assure fans they are doing all they can to allow the game to be played.
An FA Cup game that is scheduled for this evening could be postponed
Everton are due to host Peterborough but icy conditions around Goodison Park could force the game to be called off
The statement read: ‘At this stage the match is planned to go ahead as normal and every effort is being made to ensure that remains the case.
‘We will continue to keep fans updated, and will provide more information following the meeting.’
This could be the second Everton match in a matter of weeks to be called off due to the weather.
The Toffees’ Merseyside derby with Liverpool was postponed in early December as Storm Darragh hit the area.
That fixture is yet to be rescheduled.
