Princess Anne stepped out for her first royal engagement this year after she was crowned the hardest-working royal of 2024.

The Princess Royal kicked off the new year with two appearances, attending the Conference of the Oxford Farming and holding a dinner at Gordonstoun School.

The farming conference aims to explore how “current and future farming policies provide new opportunities” for farmers.

Princess Anne drove herself to the event and stepped out in a green and black patterned coat paired with a knee-length navy skirt.

She also visited Gordonstoun School, where three generations of the Royal Family attended the boarding school near Elgin, including Princess Anne’s own children, Peter Philips and Zara Tindall.

The Princess Royal, who holds the role of warden at the school, was not eligible to attend as it was, at that time, an all-boys school.

Despite Anne temporarily stepping back from royal duties following a head injury, she was top of the list of hardest-working royals for 2024.

The mother-of-two carried out 395 engagements in the UK and 79 abroad – a total of 474.

This was 17 more engagements than in 2023.

King Charles came in second place, despite undergoing cancer treatment, performing 329 engagements in the UK and 43 abroad, totalling 372 for the whole year.

Prince Edward, 60, came in third place with a total of 293 engagements.

The father-of-two was followed closely by his wife, the Duchess of Edinburgh, 59, with 257 duties.

The Duke of Gloucester, 80, a first cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth II, trailed behind Sophie with 216 engagements.

Queen Camilla performed 182 engagements, while Prince William, 42, carried out 166.

The Princess of Wales, who stepped back from public life to focus on her recovery from cancer, carried out 13 engagements in 2024.

The Princess Royal is set to attend a 35th Anniversary reception for the Cranfield Trust, which she is a patron of, on January 14.
