Cora Fraser, a 31-year-old teacher from Scotland, started a new life in the UAE’s most popular expat hub, Dubai, five years ago.
Dubai is a popular choice for those looking to enjoy a high standard of living, plentiful job opportunities, tax-free income, year-round sunshine and an exciting social life.
Cora spoke exclusively to GB News about what she loves most about where she lives – it’s a far cry from the UK.
With scorching year-round sunshine, days are filled with outdoor gym classes and walks on the beach.
‘I definitely think that Dubai has been nice for me’

But no place is perfect, and Cora also spoke candidly about why she “wants to go home”.
Most recently, the expat revealed which type of person she believes is most suited to life in Dubai.
As a teacher who works in an international school alongside many other expats, making friends was easy. However, not all jobs provide the same ready-made connections.
Cora said: “It’s best if you’re quite outgoing, happy to chat to people and want to make friends – someone who wants to put themselves out there.
“I do hear lots of stories about people who don’t know people at their work or they don’t have many friends through their job so they struggle, especially if they’re really quiet.”
Although Cora has had a great experience during her half-decade in Dubai, she admitted that moving abroad can be “really lonely”.
According to the expat, moving abroad with a partner is a great way to combat loneliness.
“If you’re in a couple it’s probably really nice,” the expat said, “because you get the best of both worlds.”
As for which age group tends to enjoy the Dubai lifestyle, the expat claimed it’s “definitely” young people.
Speaking about her own experience, the expat concluded: “Moving somewhere is really, really great. And I definitely think that Dubai has been nice for me.”
