Chelsea are set to recall a third player from their Premier League loan spell just days after it was decided that defender Trevoh Chalobah would return this month.

Chalobah was sent on a season-long loan to Crystal Palace after being exiled by Enzo Maresca, but has impressed during his time at Selhurst Park and will now re-join the Blues for the remainder of the season.

Chelsea moved to recall Chalobah with defender Wesley Fofana currently on the sidelines, while Brighton have expressed an interest in signing fellow centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo.

Meanwhile, relatively unknown Argentine youngster Aaron Anselmino, has also had his loan spell at Boca Juniors ended prematurely.

Now, another player is set to return alongside the duo, but only because of an injury that is expected to leave him out of action for 10 to 12 weeks.

Armando Broja – similar to Chalobah – had been deemed surplus to requirements at the start of the season with Nicolas Jackson, Joao Felix, Christopher Nkunku and Cole Palmer largely entrusted to lead the team’s attack.

Blues boss Enzo Maresca deemed Broja surplus to requirements at the start of the season

The Albania international had made 27 appearances across all competitions for the Blues last season but managed just two goals in the process and only one strike in the Premier league.

Everton quickly moved to secure the 23-year-old on a temporary deal once Broja became available, but are now set to end the loan agreement as the striker deals with a fresh injury complaint.

Broja has been battling an Achilles tendon issue throughout the season so far that has seen him manage only six senior outings for the Toffees.

The youthful striker looked to have put that complaint behind him after being named in Everton’s squad for their 2-0 FA Cup third round win over Peterborough last week and later came off the bench.

However, disaster struck when Broja went down injured not long after making his appearance and was given oxygen as he was carried off the pitch on a stretcher.

Trevoh Chalobah is also set to return to Stamford Bridge after having his loan deal at Crystal Palace cut short

Newly-appointed Toffees boss David Moyes confirmed Broja is set to return to Chelsea

Medical tests have now been conducted and newly-appointed boss David Moyes confirmed Broja is likely to be sent back to Stamford Bridge to undergo rehabilitation.

‘We think he is going to be out for somewhere between 10-12 weeks,’ said Moyes.

‘It’s his ankle ligaments. It will probably mean there’s a possibility he will have to go back to Chelsea.’

Broja’s departure means Everton could dip into the January transfer market under new owners The Friedkin Group to bolster their attacking ranks in a bid to avoid relegation.
