Hair care comes in various forms – with some of the most important steps taking place in the shower.
Krishna Patel, a beauty influencer, has shared three hacks to support healthier and thicker hair, including a unique conditioning method that locks moisture into the cuticles. She also advised using oil twice a week.
Applying a generous amount of conditioner to the lengths and ends of your hair, and “squishing” the product with a scrunching motion to distribute the product evenly, she explained.
After rinsing out the conditioner and ensuring all the product is removed, some people may choose to repeat the process with a leave-in condition for extra moisture. However, it is oiling your hair twice a week that can make the biggest difference, according to the expert.

“[To keep your] hair hydrated this winter, first and most importantly, oil your scalp and hair at least twice a week,” she said.
“This will not only hydrate your hair but it will also help grow your hair faster and healthier.”
While there is limited evidence that oiling can make hair grow faster, it is known to support growth by nourishing the scalp.
The scalp massages that go hand in hand with oiling improve circulation, ultimately creating an environment conducive to healthier hair growth.
“The second hack is a method called ‘squish-to-condish’ using a hair mask,” explained Krishan.
“Apply a hair mask while there’s still a bit of water in your hair, and then you squish your hair. This method forces hydration to go under the cuticle of your hair.”

The squish-to-condish method is commonly used by people with curly hair to enhance and define their curls.
But the approach also helps distribute conditioner and boost hydration, making it suitable for all hair types.
“The third and last thing is something I always preach about, which is to apply a leave-in conditioner and lightweight oil to the ends of the hair,” explained Krishan.
“I recommend doing this every night or every other night before going to bed.”
