Achieving thick, layered hair is a desire for many women which can be influenced by their lifestyle choices.
An expert spoke exclusively to GB News on how women can combat female pattern baldness through the use of supplements and a healthy diet.
Pharmacist at Chemist Click, Abbas Kanani said: “Consider taking hair supplements that contain biotin, vitamin D, iron, and B vitamins.
“These may help prevent hair thinning and vitamins can help to prevent hair loss that is caused by a bad diet.”

According to the Independent Pharmacy: “Research has found that vitamin D interacts directly with hair follicles.
“When we have enough vitamin D, it helps hair follicles grow and function properly. This signals the anagen (growth) phase, where thick hair is produced.”
Alongside supplements, a healthy, nutritious diet helps with hair growth. Not having the right foods could cause more harm than realised.
Abbas said: “Poor nutritional intake causes hairs in the ‘growing’ stage to enter into the ‘resting’ phase earlier than they should. This causes hair to fall out prematurely, resulting in excess shedding of hair. Incorporating the right hair loss vitamins and minerals can help to promote hair growth and reduce shedding.”
Aside from nutrition and supplements, the correct hair care such as the right products and how you wash your hair, can support growth.
The pharmacist said: “Use the correct hair care products that promote volumising. You should focus on the roots when using a blow dryer.
“Taking your time to section your hair to ensure you are styling each strand and regularly trimming your hair to maintain healthy ends.”
Volumising shampoos remove excess oil and target the hair cuticle, which is the outer layer of each strand. The shampoo raises the hair follicles at the scalp, creating an appearance of thicker and fuller hair.

The pharmacist said: “You can stimulate circulation and blood flow by trying gentle scalp massages which can help ensure that more nutrients and oxygen reach the hair roots.”
Scalp massages help strengthen the follicles in the hair and promote healthier hair growth, according to the expert.
Abbas advised: “Begin the massage by the hairline and move toward the back of your head and neck, covering all areas of the scalp. Better blood circulation can also help hair in the growth phase last longer.”
