A woman has been left with life-changing injuries after she was hit by a bus on Valentine’s Day, prompting the arrest of a man on suspicion of ‘drunk or drug’ driving.
The pedestrian, in her 40s, had been walking on Padmore Street in Worcester when the horror crash unfolded as she crossed the road.
She suffered significant injuries prompting a police probe for witnesses.
A spokesman for West Mercia Police said they arrested a 62-year-old man ‘on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs’.
He has since been released on bail.
They added: ‘Officers are seeking further witnesses to a collision, which happened last Friday (14 February), after a woman was seriously injured.
‘A pedestrian, a woman in her 40s, and a bus collided on Padmore Street in Worcester as the woman was crossing the road.
‘The collision occurred at around 6.30pm.

‘Officers would like to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police and have information, or dashcam footage, which could assist with enquiries.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance service said: ‘We sent an ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Midland Air Ambulance critical care car from Strensham to the scene.
‘On arrival, crews found a woman who they treated for serious injuries before conveying her under blue light, emergency driving conditions to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.’
