Wilko has announced three new in-store services ahead of the opening of the first two stores opening under its new owner this week.

Ahead of the stores being unveiled, Wilko has posted some details about what customers can expect on social media.

The brand has revealed the shops will offer key cutting, paint mixing and carpet cleaning hire as new in-store services.

Via the @LoveWilko account on X, formerly known as Twitter, Wilko wrote: “Our brand new stores are opening in TWO DAYS.

“We’ll be offering new in-store services including key cutting, paint mixing and carpet cleaning hire. Plus, we’re bringing back National Lottery!”

Wilko announced the paint mixing service on social media a day earlier, posting photographs of a Dulux paint mixing system.

The brand told customers: “We’re mixing it up this time – literally! We’ll be offering paint mixing services in-store.”

Wilko stores will open in Plymouth and Exeter tomorrow, with a third concept store in Luton opening next Friday, on December 8.

The locations are:

  • Unit A, Armada Centre, Mayflower Street, Plymouth, PL1 1QL
  • Unit 100, Guildhall Shopping Centre, Exeter, EX4 3HP
  • 141/147 Arndale Centre, Luton, LU1 2TN

Last month, Wilko announced five new concept stores would open before Christmas, ahead of a wider rollout in 2024, however, the final two pre-Christmas store locations have not yet been announced.

All 400 Wilko stores closed by early October, after the retailer collapsed into administration.

However, The Range owner CDS Superstores entered into an agreement with administrators to buy the Wilko brand, website and intellectual property, having since relaunched the website, stocked Wilko products in The Range, and announced the store openings.

CEO of CDS Superstores, trading as wilko and The Range, Alex Simpkin said: “It’s clear that there’s a huge love for wilko and we’re proud to confirm we’ll be re-introducing the brand to high streets in Plymouth, Exeter and Luton in the coming weeks.

“We’re also glad to be bringing employment opportunities to these towns and for helping local families and communities have easy access to all the everyday home and garden items they need once again.

“This initial rollout is only the beginning for our plans for revitalising the wilko brand on the nation’s high streets and retail parks, and we’ll be announcing further store launches and re-openings throughout 2024.”

Poundland owner Pepco agreed to buy up to 71 Wilko properties, with many of these sites having now reopened under the Poundland brand.

Poundland plans to have completed 64 rapid Wilko to Poundland conversions by the end of this year.
