Greasy locks are often caused by “not washing it enough”, but experts have warned against shampooing your hair every day.
So if you are trying to avoid daily washes, changing how you shampoo could help your hair look better for longer between washes.
Hair can become greasy more quickly depending on how active you are, the climate you live in and the texture of your mane.
Speaking exclusively to GB News, brand president and consultant trichologist at Philip Kingsley, Anabel Kingsley said those with fine hair may notice it getting greasy more quickly.

She explained: “Your hair texture can also impact how oily your scalp is. Those with finer-textured hair tend to have more hairs per cm on their head than those with thicker, coarser or coiled hair textures and, therefore, more oil glands producing more sebum.
“This is the reason those with fine hair often feel their hair gets greasy quickly, and they feel the need to wash it daily to avoid the appearance of flat, limp roots.”
Those with fine hair – or hair that gets greasy quickly – may be tempted to shampoo daily to fight this.
However, the expert suggested changing how you wash your hair could be the best way to prolong the time needed between washes.
Massaging your shampoo into your scalp could help lift more dirt and grease, ensuring your scalp has had a thorough clean.
Anabel said: “Try to leave more than two days between shampoos. You should spend approximately one minute gently but firmly massaging your scalp when you shampoo. Pay attention to all areas.
“People often forget to massage the back of their scalp. Rinse well to ensure shampoo residue and the dirt, oil and dead skin cells trapped in it are washed away.”
Overusing products can also cause your hair to appear greasy. Some products, however, will prove beneficial to the condition of your hair.

A beauty influencer shared using hair oil twice a week helped her mane to grow “faster and healthier”.
She said: “[To keep your] hair hydrated, first and most importantly, oil your scalp and hair at least twice a week.
“This will not only hydrate your hair but it will also help grow your hair faster and healthier.” Oils such as rosemary oil and coconut oil are often praised for their benefits on the hair.
