Karoline Leavitt has complimented Donald Trump for his handling of the Oval Office blowup between him and Volodymyr Zelensky.
The White House press secretary, 27, called the President’s wild showdown an ‘incredibly refreshing’ moment after it caused controversy worldwide.
She said it served as proof Trump had been willing to fight for Americans no matter the setting.
Leavitt aired the assessment to Fox News’ Sean Hannity, weeks after his sitdown with Trump and Elon Musk. Musk was not in the Oval Office Friday, but JD Vance was.
Leavitt called the two’s treatment of Zelensky an appropriate response – considering what she viewed as ungratefulness to the American taxpayer.
Vance said the same during their sitdown, which devolved into a shouting match after he and Trump both accused Zelensky of not being thankful for the US’s support.
The US has supplied Ukraine with more than $100billion on aid since the conflict began four years ago, with Zelensky thanking the US some 33 times since.
But that did not sway Leavitt, who told Hannity that ‘putting aside [her] job as President Trump’s spokeswoman, as an American citizen, it was incredibly profound to watch our president actually stand up for us.’

Leavitt, 27, called the president’s very public rebuke of the guest last week an ‘incredibly refreshing’ moment – after it caused controversy worldwide
‘For the taxpaying American, law-abiding citizen,’ she continued. ‘Who is sick and tired of seeing hundreds of billions of dollars go out the door every single year when we have real problems in our country here.
‘President Trump wants to end this war,’ Leavitt continued, still less than two months into her tenure.
‘He talked about it at every single rally across the country. Unfortunately, President Zelensky is not in the mindset to negotiate peace.
‘Frankly, it was incredibly refreshing to watch the president and the vice president stand up for America and to have that be before the world to see,’ she further told the host.
‘The world was able to finally watch what President Trump and his team have been dealing with behind closed doors.
‘A hardheaded notice from President Zelensky and the Ukrainians,’ she concluded. ‘And negotiating a true peace deal with Russia.’
Hannity went on to ask how she was handling being the ‘youngest White House press secretary in history’, while complimenting her for the poise she’s shown battling back opinionated journalists like Katilan Collins and Peter Alexander so far.
‘I think God gives everybody unique gifts and skills and I guess public speaking is one of mine,’ she said.

‘But I do work for a great boss who makes my job quite easy, because he says something and he does it.
‘There is no spin, it’s all truth,’ she went on. ‘We have the facts on our side.’
The next day, in a statement to Fox News, Leavitt warned Democrats to not engage in any distractions meant to derail Trump’s joint address to Congress Tuesday, amid accounts provided to outlets like Axios indicating they were perhaps plotting to do so.
‘Frankly, the Democrats should think about if they should stand up in applause for some of the things President Trump will be talking about,’ Leavitt said in response.
‘He’s bringing common sense back to this country.’
Some Democratic lawmakers are advocating for disruptions at the event, Axios reported, as the part is said to be still struggling to find the best way to handle Trump’s second presidency.
A recent series of near-identical videos from Senators Chuck Schumer, Elizabeth Warren and Corry Booker served as the latest attempt Tuesday morning – leading to widespread ridicule.
‘Who is writing the words that the puppets speak? That’s the real question,’ Musk posted to X in reply, as composites juxtaposing the three clips made clear the politicians were reading from a script.
Trump, meanwhile, paused all military aid to Ukraine on Monday.
