A homeowner has revealed the seven downsides to buying a 1960s house that has been left untouched for years.
The Lockes family have been documenting the transformation of their property from a mid-century antique to a modern home – gaining 100,000 views on TikTok in the process.
In one clip the family revealed seven downsides to major renovation works they have encountered during their time taking on the mammoth project.
The first reality of living inside a home construction site is having to deal with a large pile of bricks and debris in their front garden which creates an unfortunate eye sore for the family and their neighbours.
Next up the filmer shows the inside of the house where there are multiple cracks in the walls and ‘random holes’ in the ceiling that the homeowners have to deal with on a daily basis.
In a sight that will be familiar for anyone who has endured a home renovation, the video then shows the home’s old olive-coloured bathtub with the panel missing – exposing the underbelly of the bathtub.
Stripped walls are a nightmare for residents undertaking a renovation and they are the next downside shown by the Lockes family.
Returning to hazardous holes that anyone could fall down, another downside showcased in the clip is having to deal with ‘giant holes’ in the garden.
This particular hole appears to be very deep and has a ladder layed perilously across it.

Finally, the video ends showing the unfinished garden which has no lawn or patio.
Instead it is filled with hundreds of chunks of rock and what appears to be debris similar to that left on the front lawn.
The blood, sweat and tears that went into the home renovation was seemingly worth it for the family as later videos on TikTok reveal the impressive end result of their project.
In one particularly dramatic video – which has gained over 120,000 videos, the Lockes reveal how they have transformed their home.
They start in the bathroom, the ancient green bath, sink and toilet are gone replaced instead with a crisp white bath tub and modern beige tilings.
Downstairs, the living room’s dated interior has seen the walls stripped of their wallpaper and painted cream and the carpet has been removed and replaced with contemporary tiles.
Meanwhile one of the bedrooms has been transformed into a child’s bedroom.
The revamp of the garden is not completed just yet with the old lawn taken out but yet to be replaced.
