Chancellor Rachel Reeves has claimed that Labour will “not return the UK to austerity” as she made her keynote speech at the party’s conference in Liverpool.

Addressing the crowd, Reeves said: “There will be no return to austerity. Conservative austerity was a disruptive choice for our public services and for investments and growth too.

“Yes, we must deal with the Tory legacy. And that means tough decisions. But I won’t let that dim our ambition for Britain.”
