The actor known for his iconic role as one of the villains in ‘Goonies’ has aired concerns about his place in the film’s long-awaited sequel over his conservative political beliefs.
Robert Davi, 73, suggested his political lean may ‘complicate things’ ahead of the movie’s upcoming sequel and said he’s worried it may cost him a spot in the ‘Goonies 2’ cast.
Davi is known for his part as Jake Fratelli, the criminal son of Mama Fratelli, in the classic 1985 adventure comedy that follows a group of kids who discover a map to a hidden treasure.
Ahead of the highly anticipated sequel, the Die Hard actor worries a liberal director may hold his politics against him, ultimately barring him from the project.
‘I hope that they don’t hold my politics against me and keep me from that project,’ the actor told Fox News Digital in an exclusive interview that aired on Friday.
While he said he would ‘love’ to be a part of the reboot, Davi noted that political views have halted the casting over other right-leaning actors from films in the past, a fear he hopes won’t affect his desired role.
‘I would love to be part of it because it’s such an iconic film that people all over the world still reach out to me on “Goonies,”‘ he told the outlet.
‘But I’m concerned about it, yes. Because it’s happened on other issues, other projects,’ he added. ‘And it’s just, you know, I believe in free speech and not being politically correct all the time.’

The Showgirls actor told Fox News he’s been a proud Donald Trump supporter since the current president began his political career.
‘I’ve written about it since 2015, since the day he announced, I was pro-Trump,’ Davi said.
He continues to root in favor of the 47th President, commending Trump for his choice of ambassadors for Hollywood: Sylvester Stallone, Mel Gibson and Jon Voight.
‘And I think it’s a terrific thing to have a committee,’ he said. ‘I also was frustrated for my own selfish reasons, of course, because I had wanted something like that.’
‘I had mentioned it to some of the administration or in the campaign, to have a committee in Hollywood,’ he added. ‘Now, what the president has said is to bring back business, too, because we’re losing so much business in Hollywood, which is true.’
Trump made the shock announcement by posting on his Truth Social platform back in January.
‘It is my honor to announce Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone, to be Special Ambassadors to a great but very troubled place, Hollywood, California,’ Trump wrote on his platform.
‘They will serve as Special Envoys to me for the purpose of bringing Hollywood, which has lost much business over the last four years to Foreign Countries, BACK—BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE!’

Davi’s casting concerns come just days after globally-recognized actor, Tom Hanks, was blasted by fans for his portrayal of a dimwitted ‘racist’ Trump supporter during a skit on Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary celebration.
During the special episode, the Hollywood legend made a return as Doug, a clueless rube who dons a Make America Great Again hat and performs surprisingly well on a mock game show called Black Jeopardy.
The character first appeared in 2016 in an effort to depict both the differences and similarities between Trump voters and black culture.
But as MAGA fans pointed out, President Trump has since won over a diverse electorate and secured the popular vote – turning Doug into an outdated stereotype.
In the new version of the sketch, Doug vehemently refused to shake hands with host Darnell Hayes played by Kenan Thompson.
Afterward, Trump fans blasted SNL and the ‘Forrest Gump’ star for what they viewed as an unfair portrayal.

Former Robert F. Kennedy Jr. aide Link Lauren called the character ‘disgusting’ and accused SNL of pushing a tired, divisive narrative.
‘This show wonders why their ratings are in the gutter,’ he wrote. ‘Trump won the popular vote. This tired trope that MAGA is racist is disgusting. SNL is an unfunny show for snobbish liberal elites.’
His sentiments were echoed by other Trump supporters who flooded social media with criticism of the sketch.
Right-wing influencer Dominick McGee took direct aim at Hanks, accusing him of ‘just disrespecting every Republican on SNL as he was dressed up as a Trump supporter with a MAGA hat.’
