According to Dr Emer, achieving a youthful glow and “potentially shaving 10 years off your appearance” requires adopting a “holistic approach” to your overall health.
To combat the visible signs of ageing, the expert promotes adequate sleep, staying hydrated, caring for your skin and hair, incorporating regular exercise, maintaining a healthy diet – including reducing your sugar intake – and managing stress.
In addition to healthy lifestyle changes, strategic skin care is a must. For a “more radiant and youthful complexion”, Dr Emer explained that sun protection is “essential”.
This is because protecting your skin from harmful UV rays “prevents premature ageing and skin damage”.
As for the skin ingredients to look out for, the expert described antioxidants, peptides and vitamin C as “powerhouses” that should be incorporated into your daily routine. Some of the best antioxidants are vitamin C, vitamin E, ferulic acid niacinamide.
Dr Emer explained: “Antioxidants and peptides combat the free radicals that accelerate ageing, while vitamin C helps brighten and even out the skin tone.”
The expert recommended using EMER SKIN AOX-C Vitamin C serum alongside Re-fit Face Peptides, which “stimulate collagen production, leading to firmer skin and a healthier complexion”.
He also stressed that keeping the skin hydrated is “crucial for maintaining a youthful look”.
“Hyaluronic acid is a key ingredient that draws moisture to the skin, leaving it plump and hydrated,” the cosmetic surgeon told anti-ageing enthusiasts.
He also advised using chemical exfoliants, instructing women to “gently exfoliate with AHAs (alpha-hydroxy acids) or BHAs (beta-hydroxy acids) to remove dead skin cells and encourage cell turnover for smoother, brighter skin”.
