Although the midweek fixture is in League One, some very famous faces are in attendance attend St Mary’s.
Wrexham co-owner McElhenney has flown directly to the game from the Emmys, while former NFL star Brady is a minority owner in Birmingham and will also be watching from the stands.
Ahead of kick-off, the pair met pitchside and had a deep chat, with Brady handing a personalised Birmingham shirt to the Hollywood star.

McElhenney is a regular at Wrexham matches and flew straight to the UK from the Emmys
‘Directly after the Emmys I’m hopping on a plane and going out to Birmingham, England, to watch Wrexham play Tom Brady’s team, Birmingham City,’ McElhenney said ahead of the match.
‘We’re not legally allowed to bet on the games but we have fun, we have social media and whatnot. I’ll be joining him and I believe Mr David Beckham will be there as well – we should have a good time.’
There had been some social media jousting prior to the match, the first competitive fixture between the two sides since the Hollywood stars’ respective investments.
After Wrexham’s official account posted Eli Manning, Brady’s long-term rival, in a Red Dragons’ jersey on Friday, with him responding ‘Now I can beat @TomBrady in football and fútbol! Go @Wrexham_AFC!’
Brady had his retort to the former New York Giants quarterback, who he lost two Super Bowls to.
‘So I’ve been working on our little response video to Eli and I’m looking around the house, and I can’t find the other six of these,’ Brady said, holding up the Lombardi Trophy.
Although Brady lost both Super Bowl appearances to the Giants, he won the NFL’s championship game on seven occasions and is one of the best players in the league’s history.
‘Rob, can you just educate the Wrexham fans just a little bit on the history of the NFL?’ Brady continued. ‘Thanks bud, appreciate it. I’ll see you Monday.’
Asked about the exchange before the game, Brady told Sky Sports: ‘I did [win that round].
‘Eli Manning took a shot at me, and unfortunately he’s been a little bit of my Kryptonite. But don’t worry, we’re going to get him back tonight. We’re coming for you.
