Former Texans quarterback David Carr left an NFL panel in shock with a bizarre joke about Taylor Swift ‘rethinking the tight end she chose’ ahead of this weekend’s Super Bowl.
Swift’s boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, is gearing up for his second Super Bowl appearance in as many years in Las Vegas, where his team collides with the San Francisco 49ers.
While Kelce already boasts a legacy as one of the greatest tight ends of all time, opposite number Kittle has enjoyed a superb season so far, registering 1,128 receiving yards and 71 receptions while scoring seven touchdowns.
And when asked who he believes will steal the show at Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday, Carr opted for Kittle before making his joke about Swift.
‘I’m glad Taylor Swift is out of the country,’ he said. ‘Because if she sees George Kittle, she might rethink the tight end that she chose.’

Carr’s quip was poorly received by the panel on NFL Total Access, who loudly gasped before highlighting that Kittle is already married.
‘He’s married to his college sweetheart,’ said host Kimmi Chex. ‘Come on!’
The ex-NFL star quickly realized his mistake and conceded: ‘My bad, my bad.’
Kittle has been married to wife Claire, whom he met as a freshman at Iowa University, since 2019 after getting engaged the year before.
Kelce, meanwhile, is still in the early stages of his relationship with Swift after striking up what is now a very high-profile romance last summer.
Swift is currently over in Japan on the latest leg of her Eras Tour but is expected to make the 5,000-mile trip across the world to watch her man compete in the Super Bowl this weekend.
The singer and songwriter finishes her last Tokyo show on February 10 and faces a frantic rush to get back to the USA for the game on February 11.
But, as well as the shortage of time, she may also have a problem finding somewhere to leave her plane for the weekend in Las Vegas.

But the Chiefs star refused to confirm whether or not she will have a spot for her private jet
DailyMail.com reported last week that Sin City had completely sold out of private jet parking spots for Super Bowl weekend, leaving many of the rich and famous scrambling to find alternatives.
Michael Giordano, a partner at Cirrus Aviation Services in Las Vegas, told The New York post that the NFL will provide Swift with a space to land although parking spots are increasingly hard to come by.
‘Taylor Swift will definitely have a spot through the NFL to land, but not necessarily a place to park,’ Giordano said.
However, Kelce refused to say definitively whether or not Swift had definitely been granted one.
Asked on Monday night, Kelce replied: ‘I’ll have to ask.’
