Susanna Reid, the host of ITV’s Good Morning Britain, has spoken out after Nigel Farage beat her in the Best News Presenter category at the TRIC Awards.

The former GB News star was met by pockets of boos from the crowd and even mocking from awards host Roman Kemp, but that didn’t stop Farage triumphantly celebrating the win for the second year running.

Farage faced stiff opposition in the category, with People’s Channel co-star Eamonn Holmes also nominated alongside Reid and Matt Chorley.

The Reform UK leader came out on top and heaped praise on GB News and its viewers for showing their backing and voting him to the top spot.

Taking to social media shortly after Farage’s win, Reid addressed her loss head-on.

In a blunt post on X, the GMB host simply reacted to the loss: “Congratulations go to…..@Nigel_Farage.”

The flat tone and short nature of the post led to several of Farage’s fans revelling in the fact he’d seen off the competition.

“I bet that hurt typing that,” one fan teased with a wink emoji while a second shared a series of laughing emojis and typed: “I bet you hated tweeting that.”

A third weighed in: “It is well deserved. GB News breakfast is also so refreshing and a positive start to the day.”

And a fourth blasted: “That’s what you get when you broadcast facts! Well done Nigel,” with a thumbs-up emoji.

Elsewhere, a fifth jibed: “Establishment are fuming over Nigel Farage winning Best News Presenter. Even more hilarious is that its voted on by the people not some paid-off panel of judges.”

And a sixth took aim at Reid as they remarked: “Through gritted teeth no doubt.”

However, others praised Reid for her congratulatory post, with one arguing: “Very gracious.” (sic)

Farage wasn’t the only big winner on the night for GB News, with Camilla Tominey and the Breakfast team both bagging an award each to make it a hat-trick of wins.

Accepting his award, Farage lauded the People’s Channel and its viewers for making his second win possible.

“Thank you! It’s like a crowd at a wrestling event really! I notice much less hostility than we had last year,” he began.

“And just think about it, GB News Breakfast has won, the Camilla Tominey interview with Alastair Stewart won and I have won for a second year in a row for News Presenter of the Year.

“What that says to you is that GB News is here to stay as a mainstream broadcaster in this country and thank goodness for that! Well know those that boo clearly don’t like competition! A massive thank you to our listeners and our viewers.

“But I also want to say a big shout out because I did do a bit of work for another TV company because I did spend a bit of time on I’m A Celebrity…. Get Me Out of Here!

“Fred Sirieix I have seen up here winning prizes, Fred and I will never agree but we worked well together in the camp.

“Many other campmates here, I’m A Celebrity, great show, I loved doing it! Sadly, my TV career has been somewhat curtailed as I have another mission coming up on the 4th of July.

“But thank you, everybody, you will be seeing more of me,” Farage signed off.
