American singer-songwriter Anastacia has opened up about how she was convinced she was suffering from a brain tumour after experiencing “scary” menopause symptoms.
The 55-year-old has suffered a number of serious health conditions throughout the years and has battled breast cancer twice.
The singer admitted she had no idea her exhaustion and brain fog could have been caused by hormones and soon suspected she was suffering from another serious health problem.
“I didn’t even realise I was going through such hell that it was caused by menopause,” she told White Wine Question Time podcast host Kate Thornton.
“I didn’t know my exhaustion; I didn’t know my brain fog. I didn’t know all the things – I just thought I was tired.
“I was diagnosing myself, but had no idea any of this was hormone-related.”

The I’m Outta Love singer continued: “I guess I was waiting for that ball to drop. My ball was, I thought I had a brain tumour and life was going horrible, and I was really, really scared.
“When I got all of these other things checked out, this guy in Switzerland was like, ‘I think you’re going through some hormone stuff.’
“I told him, ‘It doesn’t feel anything like that, I have hot flashes and I’m okay with that.’
“In my head, I had no idea the things I was going through were actually in the list (of menopause symptoms) because it’s a long list.”

Meanwhile, the Left Outside Alone singer came under fire recently when the vegetarian was labelled a “fraud” for eating meat during an ITV appearance.
As a guest on This Morning, the singer couldn’t help but rush over to chef Ainsley Harriott to sample the pork chops he’d cooked.
“I don’t eat meat people! This is the truth,” she quickly declared after tucking into the food.
“I’ve inspired you to go back?” Harriott questioned before Anastacia asked what the best way to eat the dish was, putting the sausage, potato, and broccoli together.

“This is the perfect breakfast!” she exclaimed after eating the plate of food before presenter Alison Hammond asked: “Are you really a veggie?”
“Yeah! I don’t eat meat,” the songwriter laughed, worrying presenter Dermot O’Leary, who apologised for the “mortifying” moment.
Viewers weren’t pleased by the display and quickly branded Anastacia a “fraud”.
