Hairy Bikers fans have pleaded with Si King to “continue Dave’s journey” after his best pal’s death following the latest episode of Go West.

Myers died at the age of 66 last week following a two-year battle with cancer but the BBC confirmed it would continue airing the latest series of Go West in his honour.

For now, fans get to enjoy another few more episodes of Go West but after King took to social media to promote the first instalment after Myers’ death, some were keen to share words of encouragement.

On Tuesday, King had pleaded on the Hairy Bikers’ Instagram page: “The next episode of ‘Go West’ is on @bbctwo tonight. Despite such sad times we know that Dave would have wanted you to continue to enjoy the magical series that he shot with Si last year.”

The post concluded: “We’d like to thank everyone from all over the world, who has reached out with messages of love and support over the last few days. Every one of them has been read and truly appreciated.”

In response, one follower urged: “Hope Si will continue Dave’s journey when he is ready. All thinking of you all,” followed by a love heart emoji.

At the time of writing, the comment has garnered over 118 likes as dozens of like-minded Hairy Bikers fans have similarly shared their hopes for King to keep cooking and touring the UK.

Others quickly responded to the fan’s plea admitting that while they’d love to see him back, they’d understand King’s decision to stop TV work if he wanted to.

One person replied: “I totally understand if he doesn’t feel he can do the travel style programmes he did with Dave but I hope he can eventually come back to our screens maybe in a presenting role, he’s a top bloke and would be sorely missed by all their fans.”

And another similarly understood: “I understand if Si King doesn’t want to do TV anymore. They were great great duo.”

King hasn’t publicly addressed his future on-screen in the days since Myers’ death.

One thing that is for sure is that the remaining few episodes of Go West are bound to be an emotional affair for Hairy Bikers fans who struggled to hold back tears during Tuesday’s instalment.

“Watching the #HairyBikers Go West and am in tears. Sad to watch but so SO heartwarming to see the love between Si and Dave. The true definition of best friends x,” one person said on X, formerly Twitter, during the episode.

And another echoed: “Such a beautiful watch, @HairyBikers Go West, this evening. Such a beautiful tribute to Dave, and to Si, and the beautiful bond they shared! Strange how this week’s show took on a different meaning with hindsight. It’s been a very sad week, indeed! #HairyBikers #GoWest.” (sic)
