From the approachable Glaswegian dialect to the instantly recognisable Edinburgh lilt, Scotland is home to some of the most distinctive accents in the UK.

Now, Ring has revealed that it’s so enamoured with Scottish accents that it has launched an entirely new voice for its doorbells.

The Scottish voice is available now across a series of audio messages, known as ‘Quick Replies’.

Users can choose between a range of fairly standard replies, such as ‘Hi, we’ll be right there,’ and ‘Please leave the parcel outside.’

However, those who really want to embrace their Scottishness can opt for a more unique response.

‘We’re no in the noo, but haud on!’ your Ring doorbell can say.

‘Afore ye go it’d be pure dead brilliant if you’d leave a wee message. Haste ye back!’

Here’s how you can activate the Scottish voice on your Ring doorbell.

Quick Replies are Ring’s equivalent of an answering machine for your door.

‘Once the feature is activated, and someone rings your doorbell, the visitor will hear a pre-selected message and can leave a reply, unless customised otherwise,’ Ring explained.

The pre-selected responses include ‘Please leave the parcel outside,’ ‘Thanks for stopping by,’ and ‘Sorry, we’re not interested. Have a great day.’

Once these have played, the visitor will get the option to leave a message.

Owners can already choose between a range of voices for these quick replies, including Ant & Dec and Neighbours star Ryan Moloney.

Now, a Scottish voice has been added to the mix, voiced by 23-year-old medical student, Azkah Sardar, from Glasgow.

Azkah was one of over 300 people from across Scotland who applied to be the Scottish voice of Ring.

‘It means a lot to be chosen as Ring’s Voice of the Nation,’ she said.

‘I thought it was a really cool idea as it hadn’t been done before, so I thought I’d go along to the auditions and just give it a shot.

‘Scotland isn’t a huge place, but we have so much to offer.

‘We’re not as represented as we should be and it’s amazing that Ring is making steps towards making it happen.

‘Not many big brands go the extra mile to use regional accents in their technology, so I think this campaign has been fantastic.’

To set up Quick Replies with the new Scottish voice, simply open the Ring app and tap the three lines in the top left of your dashboard.

Tap Devices, and then Select your Ring Video Doorbell.

Tap the Smart Responses tile, then toggle Quick Replies on.

When it appears on the screen, tap Enable Feature, then Quick Reply Message.

Choose the Scottish Quick Reply Message, before tapping Save to finish.
