Parents have been notified that a children’s veterinary playset sold via Amazon poses a serious risk to children and has therefore been destroyed.
The Leehoo Castle Pet Vet Playset was found to contain dangerous levels of phthalates in its plastic components, which could potentially damage children’s reproductive systems.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) also identified a choking hazard from detachable parts on the set’s plush dog toy.
The product failed to meet UK safety requirements under both the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011 and REACH Regulations 2008.
Tests revealed that the plastic seal material on the wooden bottles contained 3.8 ± 1.1 Diisononyl phthalate (DINP).
“As the item can be mouthed by children, this exceeds the maximum specified limit,” the OPSS stated.
The safety body warned: “Phthalates may harm the health of children, possibly causing damage to the reproductive system.”
These chemical compounds, found in the playset’s plastic components, pose a serious risk to young children who might put the toys in their mouths.
Beyond the chemical hazards, the OPSS identified choking risks associated with the playset’s plush dog toy.
“The eyes and nose on the soft plush dog toy can easily detach,” the OPSS shared.
These small detachable parts could be particularly dangerous if placed in a child’s mouth, potentially causing choking.
The discovery of both chemical and physical safety hazards meant the toys failed to comply with essential UK safety standards.
The product was found to violate both the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011 and the REACH Regulations 2008, making it unsuitable for sale in the British market.
