Princess Beatrice has been left “absolutely devastated” after new claims emerged regarding her father, Prince Andrew, a royal insider has claimed.

The Duke of York was forced to step back from his role as a working member of the Royal Family in 2019 after a disastrous interview with BBC’s Newsnight.

The new claims emerged around the same time it was announced that Beatrice had given birth to her second child.

The source told Women’s Day magazine: “Beatrice is [privately] absolutely devastated.”

“The situation has brought her and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, her husband, closer than ever before.” the insider added.

Last month a statement from Buckingham Palace confirmed the birth of the baby girl.

It said: “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, born on Wednesday, 22nd January, at 12:57pm, at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London.

“The baby was born weighing 4 pounds and 5 ounces. Their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of The Royal Family have all been informed and are delighted with the news.”

Princess Beatrice and Edoardo got married in 2020.

It comes as Prince Andrew has reportedly secured a lucrative commercial deal with Dutch firm Startupbootcamp that will earn him millions of pounds through his connections from the Pitch@Palace initiative.

The agreement marks the first known work undertaken by the Duke of York since stepping down as a working royal five years ago.

Under the agreement, the prince will receive payment for each deal Startupbootcamp strikes across global territories according to The Sun.

The arrangement was initially proposed by Startupbootcamp officials to Buckingham Palace last summer before being finalised.

“He will earn money from each deal SBC secures from his Pitch@Palace work,” a source said.

Kauan von Novack, CEO of Startupbootcamp, expressed support for the collaboration, stating: “Our mission is to help entrepreneurs to create the change the world needs.”

“We see immense value in the network built up by Pitch@Palace,” von Novack added.

A Buckingham Palace source clarified the institution’s position, stating: “Buckingham Palace officials have neither reviewed nor approved the details of any financial arrangements between the Duke or his advisers and any third party.”
