Prince William has opened up on the aftermath of England’s crushing 2-1 defeat to Spain in the men’s Euro 2024 final last summer.
The Prince of Wales was serving as President of the FA at the time and went into the England changing room to console the players.
The royal revealed it was one of his most challenging moments as President of the FA, a role he held for nearly two decades before stepping down shortly after Euro 2024.
William said: “That was the hardest changing room atmosphere I’ve ever had to walk into.”

Despite the disappointment, the prince remains optimistic about England’s future prospects.
He believes a World Cup win next year is “definitely possible” for the national team.
William expressed confidence in new England manager Thomas Tuchel, describing him as “exactly the right person” for the job.
The former Chelsea head coach signed an 18-month contract with FA to take him up to the 2026 World Cup which will be hosted in the US, Mexico and Canada.
