Prince Harry has been warned by an old friend that he “can’t return to England” as a UK visit would make him “look like an idiot.”

Tommy Severn, the captain of Polo England who has played with both Princes William and Harry, branded the Duke of Sussex’s new Netflix show as “very weird.”

Severn criticised the lack of screen time from the Californian-based royal in Polo.

He said: “It seemed to be more about Timmy and Tim Dutta than the prince, who doesn’t appear until near the end.”

Timmy, 23, who plays for a US team bankrolled by his father, is featured heavily in the five-part documentary series, which focuses on “fierce rivalries” and “intense training.”

Prince Harry, who spent his gap year at Severn’s family’s ranch in Argentina, was once close with the family.

The Duke of Sussex and Prince William previously kept their ponies at the polo stud owned by his grandfather, Christopher Hanbury in Gloucestershire.

Severn claimed he had “no idea” why Harry hadn’t mentioned his connection to the Polo captain during the show.

Harry appears for just five seconds in the opening credits of the first episode, and is notably absent from episodes two and threeGetty

He added: “I think Harry’s cut ties so if he came back now, he’d look like an idiot.

“William might need to help him out because they were close – that’s the brother’s bond.”

Prince Harry is not thought to be on speaking terms with his older brother following a breakdown in their relationship.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex Netflix show, Polo, has been criticised by royal fans as the royal pair only appear in a handful of scenes.
