Prince Harry has begun his latest solo trip in southern Africa, after making a brief appearance at the WellChild Awards in London on Monday.
Harry has reunited with old friend Prince Seeiso of Lesotho as he attended a welcome event for charity Sentebale’s Mamohato Children’s Centre.
As the estranged royal is seen in his second country without wife Meghan Markle, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams claimed it is “just like old times” to see Harry engaging in various charity work alone.
Detailing Harry’s historic affiliations with Africa, Fitzwilliams explained: “He’s always had a very special affinity with Africa.

“In 2004, during his gap year, he spent a while in Lesotho, and two years later he and Prince Seeiso, in honour of their mothers, founded the charity Sentebale.”
When asked about the Duke’s increasing amount of solo engagements in the last few months, Fitzwilliams noted the world is watching “with great interest” at how the Sussexes are navigating this apparent “professional separation”.
Fitzwilliams told GB News: “It’s been very interesting – in New York, he for several days was involved in charitable activities, all of them solo, and then he was in London for the WellChild Awards.
“And he’s been involved with that for 15 years, so it was rather like old times to see the way he acted with the children, with the families and so forth.”

When asked about Harry’s recent remarks in Africa, where he called for “people at the top to start listening” to the impact Sentebale is having, Fitzwilliams claimed that the Duke is asking for “more support” for his many charitable causes.

Fitzwilliams explained: “Clearly he wants more support for Sentebale. The idea is to expand it somewhat to help the young who are needy.
“But most specifically, the HIV Aids situation has been so terrible in the city. So clearly he’s very well placed and no one else has his royal status.”
Delivering his verdict on how the Prince is coping without Meghan by his side in recent weeks, Fitzwilliams hailed Harry for doing “tremendously well” without her.
He added: “We are all noticing it with great interest, and I think all these events have gone off tremendously well.

“They’ve been uncontroversial and he hasn’t given any interviews. Perhaps something is being planned that we are unaware of.
“His next docu-series for Netflix on polo apparently doesn’t feature him much, so what we’re waiting to see is how this will be developing in the weeks and months.
“Perhaps this is part and parcel of a new strategy as Meghan develops her cooking side on Netflix, and Harry does more solo work.”
