Prince Harry is set to be offered the opportunity to create a documentary series about his mother Princess Diana to mark the 30th anniversary of her death, according to a senior Hollywood source.
The two or three-part series would be released in 2027, three decades after Diana died in a car crash in Paris in August 1997.
The documentary would form part of a new long-term deal with Netflix for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as their current five-year contract, understood to be worth around £80million, is set to expire later this year.
The project would follow Princess Diana’s story and commemorate her legacy 30 years after her tragic passing.

It would be a personal undertaking for Harry, who was just 12 years old when his mother died.
The Los Angeles source said: “The idea is that it would be a solo project for Harry, who would be a co-executive producer as well as hosting and narrating the series.”
The Duke would take a hands-on role in the production, bringing his unique perspective as Diana’s son.
This personal connection is seen as valuable by Netflix executives.
The documentary would offer viewers an intimate look at Princess Diana through the eyes of her youngest son.
Harry’s involvement would extend beyond simply appearing on camera, serving as co-executive producer for the project.
The series is expected to consist of two or three parts, providing an in-depth exploration of Diana’s life and impact.
The production executive believes Harry would handle the project “with passion and sensitivity, offering fresh insights into not only her life, but also her lasting legacy.”
The source highlighted Harry’s unique position to discuss Diana both as his mother and as a cultural icon.
The source explained to the Express: “He is uniquely placed, not only to talk about the woman he knew as his mother, but also to examine her role as an enduring social and cultural icon still beloved by so many.”
As part of the Sussexes current deal with the streaming giant, Meghan is set to release the a second season to her solo project, ‘With Love, Meghan’, later this year.
The Californian-based royals broke Netflix streaming records with their debut series, ‘Harry and Meghan’, but have failed to hit similar viewing numbers since.
