Prince Andrew’s £30million home is in a “shocking state” as Duke of York is reportedly attempting to maintain the 21 acres of garden surrounding Royal Lodge.

The disgraced duke has funded himself since King Charles axed his £1million annual allowance to force Andrew to downsize royal residency in a bid to cut royal costs.

The son of Queen Elizabeth II relied on the allowance to fund his living expenses and security team.

Prince Andrew has since secured legitimate funding to stay in the 30-room property, although the source of the money has not been confirmed.

A Historic Royal Palaces gardener has revealed that the royal estate is in a “shocking state”.

Todd Longstaffe Gowan added: “I won’t be knocking that into shape. It is impossible.

“I’ve been at Kensington Palace for 30 years and I think Royal Lodge would be quite impossible.”

The property is surrounded by shrubbery and woodland, insiders claim.

Royal Lodge has been the centre of a royal feud between Andrew and Charles since the King suggested his brother and Sarah Ferguson downsize to Frogmore Cottage, the previous UK residency of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The former couple continue to live together despite divorcing almost 30 years ago.

Andrew and Sarah reside with the late Queen’s corgis, who roam the royal estate’s grounds.

The mansion itself also shows visible signs of deterioration, with cracks and black mould appearing on the exterior walls.

The Duke of York stepped down as a working royal following public backlash from his infamous Newsnight interview in 2019.

After being stripped of his royal duties, Andrew lost his right to automatic taxpayer-funded security.

He has since kept a low profile, rarely leaving the Windsor Estate.
