Police have released CCTV of a missing woman who was last seen wearing hiking gear and heading towards a forest. 

Joanne Jones, 49, from Pontypridd in South Wales, was last seen at around 10am yesterday wearing a backpack and a raincoat.

The woman was seen heading in the direction of Llanwonno, police said. She was wearing a dark green coat, a black rucksack, leggings and walking boots. 

South Wales Police said in a social media post: ‘Joanne Jones, 49, from Pontypridd has been reported missing and there is concern for her welfare.

She was last seen around 10am yesterday morning heading in the direction of Llanwonno, as seen here on CCTV.

Joanne was wearing a dark green coat, black rucksack, leggings, and walking boots.

Anyone who may have seen Joanne, or who has information which will help us find her, is asked to contact South Wales Police quoting occurrence number 2400351002.’

Llanwonno is a hamlet high up in the hills, situated between the historic mining valleys of the Rhondda and the Cynon.

It has a forest covering 2,644 hectares which overlooks the Aberdare Valley and the walking route passes a church, a reservoir and a waterfall.
