Jaromir Jagr, 52, is set to finally retire from professional hockey.

The former Pittsburgh Penguins star is now playing back home in Czechia for the Kladno Knights, whom he owns as well.

And after writing on his Instagram page earlier this week that this would be his ‘last season’, Jagr confirmed to The Athletic that that was the case.

Jagr last played in the NHL in the 2017-18 season, appearing in 22 games for the Calgary Flames.

He spent the first 11 seasons of his career with the Penguins before stops with the New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, Washington Capitals and more.

He returned to Pittsburgh in February as the Penguins retired his jersey number (68)

Jagr is a five-time Hart Award winner, which is given to the player who leads the league in points at the end of the season, and has the second-most points in NHL history.

On Wednesday, Jagr opened his 37th professional season.

The 52-year-old set up a power play goal, the only one Kladno scored in a 5-1 away loss to Pardubice.

It was the first time Jagr had played a season´s opener since the Flames released him.

He played at Pardubice despite not being fully fit due to a muscle injury that forced him to interrupt pre-season training for four weeks.

Jagr said he needed more games to be back to his best.

“That´s fine, (it was ) the first game,” he told local media.
