• Former Radio 1 DJ has covered event since it started in 2027
  • But former X Factor contestant Shereen will take over this year

She has hosted Scotland’s hugely popular Hogmanay show and is about to star in Celebrity MasterChef.

However, BBC Scotland stalwart Edith Bowman has been replaced on another of her high-profile gigs.

The former Radio 1 DJ, from Anstruther, in Fife, has been the face of BBC Scotland’s coverage of Glasgow’s TRNSMT Festival since its inception in 2017. 

But Ms Bowman, 50, is to be replaced in the role by fellow Scot and former X Factor contestant Shereen Cutkelvin.

Burgeoning talent Ms Cutkelvin, 27, also has a number of presenting credits to her name, including co-hosting a show on BBC Radio Scotland and presenting Radio 1’s Early Breakfast as well as CBBC’s music magazine show Love, Love, Love.

TRNSMT – the festival draws huge crowds of music fans to the heart of Glasgow 

The Lanark-born singer is a former member of the girl group Neon Jungle, who made it to the semi-finals of The X Factor in 2017.

She said: ‘I’m so excited to be presenting BBC Scotland’s TRNSMT coverage this year. We’re gearing up for a cracking few days of live music.’

BBC Scotland commissioning executive Heather Kane-Darling said Ms Cutkelvin ‘will bring her enthusiasm and love of music to our TRNSMT coverage’ and thanked Ms Bowman ‘for the brilliant job she has done’.
