Drivers have been warned of new lower speed limits on a major section of roads across the east as safety work gets underway.
The change in speed limits follows safety improvements currently happening on the A47 between Peterborough and Kings Lynn.
The project will allow National Highways to implement 20 average speed cameras in the region with drivers caught breaking the rules given hefty penalties.
Under UK law, drivers caught speeding could face a penalty of £100 as well as three penalty points added to a licence, although extreme cases could lead to driving bans and a fine of up to £2,500.

Most 60mph parts of the road will be reduced to 50mph
NATIONAL HIGHWAYS
The project aims to reduce road traffic collisions along this key route connecting the east of England with the rest of the country.
As part of the measures, National Highways has announced permanent speed limit reductions across multiple sections of the road, with most 60mph zones now being lowered to 50mph.
The new speed restrictions include six specific sections along the A47 where changes will be implemented. The stretch between Welland Road roundabout and the Oversley Lodge roundabout will see speeds reduced from 60mph to 50mph.
Similar reductions from 60mph to 50mph will be applied between Thorney New Cut roundabout and Thorney Toll, as well as from Guyhirn to Wisbech.
Through Thorney Toll Village, the limit will drop more significantly from 60mph to 40mph. The section from Thorney Toll to Guyhirn will also change from 60mph to 50mph.
Finally, the stretch between Shoreboat Roundabout and Pullover roundabout will be reduced from 60mph to 50mph. The £6million safety improvement project is expected to be completed by winter.
Work will be carried out in three distinct phases, with the first section between Wisbech and Kings Lynn scheduled for completion in May.
The second phase, focusing on the Guyhirn to Wisbech stretch, will take place between May and July while the final phase covering Peterborough to Guyhirn will run from July to November.
Martin Fellows, National Highways Regional Director said: “Safety is, and will always be, our number one priority, and we understand how important improved safety is to those who use this route as well as those who live nearby.
“Our work has identified sections of the A47 where we believe safety improvements can be made. These changes to the speed limit aim to reduce the frequency and severity of collisions which helps keep traffic flowing and creates safer roads for everyone.”
To minimise disruption, work will be carried out during weekday nights between 8pm and 6am, with overnight closures in place, with drivers advised to allow extra time for their journeys.
During closures between Wisbech and Kings Lynn, eastbound traffic will be diverted onto the A1101 at Wisbech Roundabout.

Vehicles will then follow the A1101 and A1122 to the A10, rejoining the A47 at Hardwick Roundabout. Westbound traffic will follow the same diversion route in reverse.
All laybys between Elm High Road, Wisbech and Pullover Roundabout, Kings Lynn will remain closed throughout the duration of the works.
