An Oklahoma mother allegedly made disturbing internet searches in the days before she took her four-month-old son to the hospital, where he would eventually succumb to his horrific injuries.
Savawna Bowen, 23, was taken into custody on Friday on one count of felony child neglect – almost exactly one year after her young son died of a broken jaw, broken ribs, a broken femur and severe brain injury, Law & Crime reports.
The boy’s father, Daquan White, also 23, has previously been charged with the infant’s murder and child abuse.
But prosecutors now say Bowen knew White had injured their son, and waited several days before getting him medical help.
In an affidavit obtained by News on 6, police say Bowen left her two children – the infant and a two-year-old in White’s care while she stayed with her boyfriend last year.
When she eventually returned, she noticed there was a red mark on the baby’s leg, which she asked White about.
He allegedly explained that when he lifted the young child’s leg, he heard a popping sound.
Still, prosecutors claim, Bowen left her children in White’s care for another eight hours, while she spent time with her friends.

By the time Bowen arrived back at White’s residence, she noticed her baby was crying in pain.
At that point, White allegedly admitted he put his fingers inside the baby’s mouth and pushed down in an effort to stop the baby from crying.
The infant would go on to have a seizure, but the affidavit claims White told Bowen to wait to take him to the hospital and to lie about the injury on the baby’s leg.
In the days that followed, prosecutors say Bowen made a number of disturbing internet searched.
On January 3, 2024, she allegedly searched the term ‘popped leg,’ and the following day she searched ‘baby’s femur is sticking out.’
Bowen then allegedly waited another few days before making another search on January 7 for ‘baby not able to move mouth’ and ‘mouth swollen.’
Apparently disturbed by the results, Bowen eventually took the infant to the hospital the following day.
But police say doctors have told them that the baby likely would have survived his injuries if Bowen brought him to the hospital earlier.
Instead, the infant passed away on January 11.
