Michael Mosley spent his career helping people lead healthier lives – and now his son is due to follow in his footsteps.

Dr Jack Mosley will publish his first book, Food Noise, next month as he explores why we feel hungry, and the advance of recent weight loss drugs in combating that.

The trainee GP, an expert in products such as Ozempic, Mounjaro and Wegovy, said he hoped Food Noise would help patients become more aware of the lifestyle and dietary advice they need in order to use the drugs safely.

The book will explain the science behind weight-loss products, providing recipes and seven-day meal plans to assist patients looking to shift the pounds and keep it off for good.

It will build on the legacy of Dr Michael, the popular broadcaster, medic and Daily Mail columnist, famed for his Just One Thing lifestyle series, who died while holidaying on the Greek island of Symi last summer.

His son Dr Jack said: ‘My father, Michael, believed in empowering people with knowledge so they could take control of their own health.

‘My hope is that this book might do exactly that – equip as many people as possible with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions around weight loss drugs and to show that changes to your lifestyle and improving your diet is essential to keep healthy while you are taking the medicine.’

It will precede the new cookbook by his mother, the best-selling author Dr Clare Bailey Mosley, Michael’s widow.

In Eating Together: A Recipe for Parenting, Dr Clare will outline the benefits of family members finding the time to share a meal together.

It will feature parenting strategies designed to make mealtimes run smoothly, as well as 50 nutritious family-friendly recipes, and be released in September.

Both books will be published by Octopus.

Dr Clare said: ‘The benefits of regularly eating together cannot be underestimated. I hope Eating Together brings joy to the table.

‘As a family we have been truly humbled by the countless stories we’ve heard from people who tell us Michael made a meaningful difference to their lives.

‘I am thrilled that Octopus is supporting Jack and me in continuing what we regard as a family mission – arming as many people as possible with the information they need to live healthier and happier lives.’

Anna Bond, Octopus director, said: ‘Octopus are very proud to be continuing to work with Clare Bailey Mosley on her bestselling cookbooks.

‘Jack’s book picks up his father’s legacy of identifying the health knowledge gap and filling it with researched, expert advice in a warm approachable style that we can all trust.’
