Micah Parsons is convinced Joe Burrow is the best player in the NFL right now after the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback inspired a overtime win over the Denver Broncos on Saturday night.

Burrow continued his stellar season after completing 39 of his 49 passes for 412 yards and three touchdowns – including the game-winner in overtime – to keep the Bengals’ playoff hopes alive.

The 28-year-old has at least 250 yards passing and three touchdowns in eight straight games, extending his NFL record.

And despite the fact Cincinnati (8-8) don’t have a winning record, Parsons has argued Burrow’s case for the coveted Most Valuable Player award.

In fact, the Dallas Cowboys star believes it should not even be up for debate if he propels his team into the postseason.

He posted on X after the Bengals’ win over the Broncos: ‘If Joe burrow takes this team to the playoffs I don’t even think it should be in question who’s MVP!! God damm! Best in the world rn!’

Parsons took to social media to call for the Cincinnati QB to win this season’s MVP award

Parsons’s call for Burrow to be a serious MVP contender divided opinion on social media, with some rubbishing his suggestion while pointing to what they believe are more credible options.

One user replied: ‘bulls***! Lamar [Jackson] is and it’s not even a debate! burrow is throwing to 2 top 10 WR on rookie contracts!’

Another said: ‘It’s hysterical how emotional people get after every good game by a quarterback’.

‘He’s been amazing but nah , Josh [Allen] then Lamar,’ wrote a third.

While another simply put: ‘Micah knock it off bro’.

Others, however, are convinced Burrow is performing miracles with a below-par Bengals outfit.

‘Just finishing with a winning record should be enough,’ one fan replied. ‘The Bengals are likely a 1-2 win team without Burrow.’

Another commented: ‘He’s playing amazing ball despite a horrendous offensive line.’

Before one went even further by saying: ‘I don’t even think there is anyone close’.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor agreed with Parsons’ take after their win over the Broncos

A more significant figure who agrees with Parsons’ take is Bengals head coach Zac Taylor.

Taylor also heralded Burrow as this season’s MVP after his quarterback’s latest breathtaking display, stressing that he would not trade him for ‘any player in the universe’.

‘I don’t know that anyone can stand on a field and watch Joe Burrow and say that he’s not the best player in the world,’ he argued.

‘And you can transfer that argument to [Bengals wide receiver] Ja’Marr Chase as well. And you can argue those two to death. But the clearest thing I can say is I would not trade Joe Burrow for any player in the universe, and so to me that’s MVP.’
