Meghan Markle made a striking solo appearance at the LA Children’s Hospital Gala on Saturday evening, turning heads in a recycled and modified Carolina Herrera gown, but a change in her hairstyle may point towards a change in her life, a style expert has claimed.
The Duchess of Sussex, 43, dazzled in the scarlet dress, which she first wore in 2021 at the Salute To Freedom Gala.
Meghan’s ensemble featured a significant change from its original design, with the billowing overskirt removed to create a sleeker silhouette.
The former actress complemented her look with a fresh hairstyle, opting for effortless beachy waves instead of her usual sleek style, sparking speculation about potential changes in her personal life and public image as she continues to establish her individual identity away from her husband Prince Harry.
Celebrity stylist and MAYFIVE co-founder Katie Allan noted the change away from her usual style may hint the duchess has experienced a change in her life.
“Meghan debuted a fresh new hairstyle at the LA Children’s Hospital Gala,” Allan explained.
“Were used to seeing Meghan with sleek and polished hairstyles, but her new natural, relaxed tousled look was a lot more laid back with an effortless vibe.
“The waves are a lot softer than we are used to seeing on Meghan, and is a contrast to her usual style of low buns or bouncy blow dries.”
She continued to tell the Daily Express: “This natural yet glamorous look could suggest that she’s feeling more relaxed, relatable and approachable.
“We often change up our style when we are embracing a lifestyle or attitude change, so this new look could reflect that.”

“This style also reflects current trends as laid back, effortless styles are rising in popularity and will continue to be popular into 2025.”
Also speaking to the publication, Ashley Rossiter of MirrorMePR said Meghan’s modified gown demonstrated her evolving style.
Rossiter said: “The dress is a statement not to be ignored, but combined with the dressed-down hair and make-up.”
She added, “It also presents Meghan in a more relaxed frame and alludes to a less formal and more approachable persona, as well as showing Meghan’s natural beauty and figure off at her best.”
The Duchess paired the gown with strappy red heels and a gold bangle, completing her refined yet approachable ensemble.
Meghan’s solo appearance and style changes have fuelled speculation about her future endeavours and relationship with Prince Harry.
Prince Harry has been apart from Meghan for more than a week as he took part in several charity engagements while in Lesotho with his charity, Sentebale.
Joseph Hagan of Streamline PR said: “Her decision to step out without Prince Harry on this occasion adds to the buzz, further underscoring her independence and ability to hold the spotlight on her own.”
The couple’s separate engagements in 2024 have become more frequent, with Harry extending his solo trip to Africa.
A source told Express.co.uk that the Duke will likely visit Johannesburg and Cape Town for “private time” with family and friends.
