Meghan Markle has been encouraged to “take a leaf out of her own book”, after she gave a candid account of her experience of being cyber-bullied at a recent event.
The Duchess of Sussex took to the stage at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Texas to mark International Women’s Day.
During the panel, Meghan spoke of the “hateful” and “cruel” attacks she received when she was pregnant.
The royal also revealed that she now “keeps a distance” from social media as a consequence.

The Duchess told the audience: “The bulk of the bullying and abuse that I was experiencing in social media and online, was when I was pregnant with Archie and with Lili.
“And you just think about that and really wrap your head around how people would be so hateful. It’s not catty, it’s cruel, why you would do that? Certainly when you’re pregnant and you have a newborn.”
Discussing Meghan’s most recent appearance on GBN America, commentator Lizzie Cundy said it’s “always me, me, me” with the Duchess and she “always plays the victim”.
Host Nana Akua said Meghan’s fame was predominantly in the limelight “when she was pregnant”, and she the “only time we’ve really known her has been when she married Harry”.

Cundy told Nana: “If she doesn’t like the comments, don’t read them.”
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
Cundy admitted: “I get plenty of them, I just don’t go scrolling, reading every one and taking it to heart.”
The commentator said of Meghan’s speech at the SXSW event: “Meghan really should take a leaf out of her own book. She’s talking about humanity and being kind, which she’s not actually shown much kindness to our Kate, who’s going through it, really not well at the minute, and had that huge operation.
“She’s not shown it to her own family. She’s not shown it to her father, who’s had a stroke and had a heart attack. She’s not even been to see him. He’s not even seen the grandchildren. So where’s the kindness there, Meghan? That’s what I want to ask.”
Nana agreed with Cundy, and added that it was “interesting” for her to highlight kindness and bullying when she is “on the other breath, not going to see her own father.”

Nana fumed: “Some of the rhetoric that’s come from their camp towards the Royal Family, in particular that ghastly Oprah Winfrey interview, where they put it out there that perhaps someone in the Royal Family is racist.
“And then not even two years later called it ‘unconscious bias’, and Harry himself denied it, it just seems absurd that she seems to be unable to absorb the reality of her own behaviour and their behaviour.”
Cundy agreed, responding: “And the thing is Nana, it’s so hypocritical and I think people are sick to the back teeth of it.
“She’s trying to make a comeback, I tell you what, she’s desperately in America trying to be friends with Taylor Swift, she’s trying to get in with a new set of people, and it’s just not happening.”
